Interview with DJ & Producer Asota Music

Today we have the honor of speaking to Asota Music, a talented musician and producer who has been deeply rooted in the world of music since early childhood. From her beginnings at her grandmother's piano to major performances and successful releases, Asota Music has had an impressive journey. In this interview, she gives us an insight into her creative process, his greatest successes and challenges, as well as her view on the modern music industry. Let's delve into the fascinating world of Asota Music and learn more about the artist and her passion for music.

Personal Background and Inspiration

  1. When did you start making music, and what inspired you to do so?

Asota Music: "At four years old, I had my first contact with a piano that was in my grandmother's bedroom. I made my first attempts at playing piano there, and then at nine years old, I was in the Linz Music School. At thirteen, I was the youngest drummer in Upper Austria."

  1. Was there a particular person or event that significantly influenced your musical journey?

Asota Music: "Yes, definitely. When I was around 12 or 13, I played as a drummer in a brass band and had a lot of fun. I was always regarded as a prodigy because I could play almost everything by ear. My grandmother and, of course, the music school had a significant influence on me."

  1. Which musicians or bands influenced you the most and why?

Asota Music: "Later, I was signed to work with the best Austrian artists, including Klaus Prünster, Waterloo Studio Session, Falco, Andy Gebauer, Diana Jirkuf, Tröbinger Superfeucht, and Manfred Puchner Git from the One of a Kind Project 1979. Live gigs like performing on the Donauinsel in front of 60,000 people were highlights of my career. These experiences have left a lasting impact on me."

Creative Process

  1. How do you approach songwriting or production? Do you have a specific routine or method?

Asota Music: "It's always the same: I find a reference track that I like and let it inspire me. Then, I copy the MIDI and create my own layers and harmonies. After that come the arrangement, effects, and mastering."

  1. Where do you get your inspiration for lyrics or songs?

Asota Music: "Either from the track itself or from the vocals I receive. I extract the harmony or melody from the vocals. The vocals keep the track fresh and interesting."

  1. How do you develop your melodies and harmonies?

Asota Music: "In electronic music, it's very important that the track is in key. I always ensure that keyboards or piano harmonize well with the bass and kick."

Career and Experiences

  1. What has been your biggest success so far, and how has it influenced you?

Asota Music: "Blackhole Records and Armada Music asked me to remix tracks, and BlackHole Records Netherlands released my first tracks. This was a significant success for me, and I still earn money from it. Working with Waterloo in the studio and Klaus Prünster was also very influential."

  1. Have you faced any setbacks or challenges that you had to overcome? How did you handle them?

Asota Music: "Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic was a tough time. I'm glad I spoke with Gerry Verano. He introduced me to Sarah B, and I had the most beautiful collaborations. We also had great success with 'Sand of Time,' which received 37,000 likes on Spotify."

  1. How has your music evolved over the years?

Asota Music: "My sound has become more professional, and I've built a strong presence on social media. However, it's increasingly difficult for posts to be accepted, and often you don't even know what to post anymore."

Live Performances

  1. Do you have a favorite concert or tour that you particularly remember?

Asota Music: "Yes, especially from my old band days when I celebrated great successes with Austrian artists."

  1. How do you prepare for live performances?

Asota Music: "Currently, I don't have live performances, but I'm open to anything."

  1. What has been the most memorable experience you've had during a concert?

Asota Music: "A memorable experience was when the CDJs weren't synchronized, and I had to mix live. It was very challenging, but it worked out. This happened at an après-ski party."

Music Industry

  1. How do you view the current music industry, especially compared to when you started?

Asota Music: "It's very challenging to stand out right now. You have to sound as good as the top DJs and producers; otherwise, your chances are slim. It's also important to do live mixes and maintain a presence on social media."

  1. What do you think are the biggest challenges for emerging artists today?

Asota Music: "The saturation of social media is a major challenge. There's just too much of it."

  1. What role do social media and streaming services play in your career?

Asota Music: "A very large role. It's increasingly difficult if you're not from the Netherlands or the UK. I think people there have better connections."

Future Projects and Goals

  1. What are you working on right now, and what can your fans expect in the near future?

Asota Music: "I'm working on remixes for big DJs and asking them if I can create remixes or club mixes. Only then do I start working on them."

Personal Insights

  1. How do you spend your free time outside of music?

Asota Music: "I don't do anything special, just relax, sit on the balcony, meet with friends, or watch TV."

  1. Are there any hobbies or interests that would surprise us?

Asota Music: "It would be surprising if someone came up to me and said, 'Hey, would you like to make a track with me?' or introduced me to major producers and world-famous DJs."

  1. What is the best advice you've ever received, and from whom?

Asota Music: "A music director once told me, 'Just make music, find vocals that fit the track, and if someone hears the track and likes it, then you've succeeded.' But that requires musical experience."

Thank you to Asota Music for the insightful interview and a glimpse into his musical world!
